New Delhi, December 27, 2024: Residents of Delhi and Noida experienced light rain today as a cold wave continues to grip the region. The unexpected drizzle provided slight relief from the dry winter air but added to the chill, with temperatures dropping further. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the rain is the result of a western disturbance affecting North India.
The light showers, coupled with icy winds, have led to a noticeable dip in the minimum temperature, which is expected to remain below normal for the next few days. Commuters faced minor inconveniences as wet roads and reduced visibility affected traffic in parts of the National Capital Region (NCR). The IMD has also forecast cloudy skies and sporadic rainfall in the coming days.
Citizens are advised to take precautions against the cold weather, especially during early morning and late evening hours. The ongoing cold wave, coupled with rain, has heightened the demand for warm clothing and heating devices in the region. Schools and workplaces have issued advisories encouraging people to dress appropriately to stay warm.
