Peshawar, January 6, 2025 – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code in Kurram district for two months in response to escalating violence. The move follows a recent attack on a government convoy, which resulted in injuries to Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud and six others, including security personnel and civilians. The imposition of the ban prohibits public gatherings and the display of arms, aiming to curb further violence and restore order.
Authorities have also declared a curfew along the main highway during the transit of aid convoys to ensure safe passage. Meanwhile, a crackdown operation is in progress to arrest those involved in the attack, with two suspects already detained and moved to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
