J.P. Morgan Warns of U.S. Recession by 2025; Jefferies Sees India Resilient Amid Tariff Turmoil

New Delhi, April 5, 2025 – J.P. Morgan has projected that the U.S. could enter a recession by the end of 2025, mainly due to escalating trade tensions and tariff policies under President Trump’s second term. The bank warned that such protectionist moves may hinder business investments and hurt consumer sentiment, raising recession risks.

In contrast, Jefferies believes India will largely remain unaffected by the new U.S. tariffs. The firm noted India’s strong and diverse export sectors, such as pharmaceuticals and electronics, make it resilient. Additionally, India may benefit from shifting global supply chains as companies look to reduce reliance on economies like China.
