ITBP Deployed for Enhanced Security at Kedarnath and Badrinath During Winter

Dehradun, December 14, 2024 – The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has been deployed to ensure enhanced security at the revered Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines during the winter months. With the onset of the cold season, the government has decided to fortify the security infrastructure in the region, considering the heightened security challenges that can arise due to adverse weather conditions and the ongoing threat of natural calamities in the mountainous terrain.

The ITBP, known for its expertise in high-altitude and border security, will be stationed at key points to monitor the safety of pilgrims and manage any potential emergencies. The force will work in coordination with local law enforcement agencies and disaster management teams to provide comprehensive security and assistance to visitors. The deployment aims to maintain law and order, prevent any untoward incidents, and ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience for devotees.

This move follows consultations with the Uttarakhand government and other security agencies, who agreed on the need for extra vigilance during the winter months when access to the region becomes more difficult. The ITBP will be tasked with ensuring not only the safety of pilgrims but also the protection of the infrastructure at these iconic spiritual sites.
