Sriharikota, January 29, 2025: ISRO achieved a historic milestone with its 100th rocket launch, successfully sending the GSLV-F15 rocket carrying the NVS-02 satellite into orbit. The indigenous navigation satellite, weighing 2,250 kg, is the second in the new generation of navigation satellites developed by ISRO. This successful launch underscores the nation’s growing prowess in space technology.
ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan, overseeing his first mission since taking office, congratulated the scientists for their achievement. The NVS-02 satellite will support vital navigation services in areas like geography, aviation, marine, agriculture, and mobile services. Narayanan highlighted the significance of this launch, reflecting ISRO’s journey from the era of Vikram Sarabhai to its current accomplishments, including the launch of 548 satellites across 100 missions.
