Intel, TSMC Join Forces: New Chipmaking Venture in the Works

Santa Clara, CA, April 4, 2025: Intel and TSMC have reportedly reached a tentative agreement to form a joint venture for operating Intel’s semiconductor manufacturing facilities. TSMC is expected to take a 20% stake in the new entity, bringing its expertise to boost Intel’s production capabilities.

The move follows efforts by U.S. officials to strengthen Intel’s position in the semiconductor industry after the company missed out on the AI-driven chip boom and reported an $18.8 billion loss in 2024. The partnership with TSMC is seen as a strategy to revitalize Intel’s chipmaking business and enhance domestic manufacturing.
