    India’s Wholesale Inflation Slows to 2.05% in March Amid Falling Food Prices

    New Delhi, April 15, 2025: India’s wholesale inflation, as per the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), eased to 2.05% in March, down from 2.38% in February. The slowdown was mainly driven by a decline in food prices, with wholesale food inflation dropping to 4.66% from 5.94%. Vegetable prices saw a significant decrease of 15.88%. In contrast, manufactured goods prices rose by 3.07%, and fuel and power prices increased slightly by 0.20%.

    The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently lowered its key repo rate and revised the country’s growth forecast to 6.5%, citing global uncertainties and adverse weather as inflation risks. The India Meteorological Department is expected to release its monsoon forecast soon, with March retail inflation data also to be published.
