
New Delhi, April 12, 2025 – Nandan Nilekani, Infosys co-founder, highlighted that India’s technological progress over the past 15 years has set the stage for faster AI adoption. Speaking at the Carnegie Global Tech Summit 2025, he pointed to digital public infrastructure like Aadhaar, UPI, and digital payment systems as key enablers for scaling AI applications across various sectors in the country.
Nilekani acknowledged that while AI adoption in India will still require significant effort, the country’s existing digital ecosystem and government initiatives such as the IndiaAI Mission are accelerating this process. He emphasized the need to shift focus from developing new AI models to scaling existing solutions to better serve India’s diverse population.
