New Delhi, March 25, 2025 – India’s defence production reached a record ₹1.27 lakh crore in the financial year 2023-24, reflecting the government’s push for self-reliance in the defence sector. The Ministry of Defence highlighted significant growth in indigenous manufacturing, with contributions from both public and private sector companies.
Defence exports also saw a notable rise, surpassing ₹21,000 crore, showcasing India’s growing footprint in the global arms market. The government attributed this success to policy reforms, increased private sector participation, and a strong focus on research and development in defence technologies.
