India Targets 500 GW Clean Energy by 2030 with Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Push

New Delhi, January 11, 2025: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, launched the Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform at the Bharat Climate Forum 2025 in New Delhi. This initiative aims to strengthen India’s cleantech value chains in solar, wind, hydrogen, and battery storage sectors. Minister Goyal emphasized the need for the cleantech sector to become self-reliant and innovate beyond government support. While Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes can initiate projects, he highlighted the importance of long-term sustainability without relying on subsidies.

The Bharat Cleantech Manufacturing Platform is designed to encourage collaboration, co-innovation, and resource sharing among Indian firms, aiming to position India as a global leader in cleantech and sustainability. The initiative aligns with the country’s goal of achieving 500 Gigawatts of clean energy by 2030. The Bharat Climate Forum 2025 serves as a platform to unify stakeholders from policy, industry, and research sectors to drive sustainable growth. This launch marks a major step toward fostering innovation, self-reliance, and leadership in India’s clean energy sector.
