New Delhi, January 4, 2025: Renowned Indian nuclear scientist Dr. R. Chidambaram, who made significant contributions to India’s nuclear program, has passed away at the age of 79. Known for his expertise in nuclear science, he played a vital role in strengthening India’s defense capabilities, particularly through his involvement in the country’s nuclear weapons program.
Dr. Chidambaram served as the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India and was a key figure in the successful nuclear tests in Pokhran in 1998. He was also instrumental in advancing nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, particularly in the areas of energy generation and medical applications.
Dr. Chidambaram’s death has left the nation mourning the loss of a visionary scientist. His contributions to India’s scientific and defense advancements will always be remembered.
