    India Jumps to 36th in Global Tech Readiness Index, Up from 48th in 2022

    New Delhi, April 4, 2025: India has climbed to 36th place out of 170 nations in the ‘Readiness for Frontier Technologies’ index, according to UNCTAD’s 2025 Technology and Innovation Report. This marks a significant improvement from its 48th rank in 2022. The index assesses nations based on ICT deployment, skills, R&D activity, industrial capacity, and access to finance.

    India ranks 3rd in R&D activity, 10th in industrial capacity, but lower in ICT deployment (99th) and skills (113th). The report highlights India, along with Brazil, China, and the Philippines, as leading developing nations in tech readiness. India also ranks 10th globally in AI research, attracting $1.4 billion in private AI investments in 2023.
