Vientiane, February 28, 2025 – India has extended a USD 1 million grant to support a food fortification project in Lao PDR, strengthening bilateral cooperation in public health and nutrition. The initiative aims to address malnutrition and improve food security by enhancing the nutritional value of staple foods, benefiting vulnerable communities across the country.
The grant reflects India’s commitment to development partnerships in Southeast Asia under its Act East Policy. Officials from both nations emphasized the importance of tackling malnutrition through sustainable solutions. The project is expected to contribute to Lao PDR’s national nutrition strategy, reinforcing India’s role in regional humanitarian and economic development efforts.
