Puri, Odisha, December 4, 2024: India proudly celebrates Navy Day, commemorating the Indian Navy’s pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests and its heroic achievements during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, particularly the success of Operation Trident. This year’s theme, “Strength and Power through Innovation and Indigenisation,” highlights advancements in naval technology and the nation’s journey toward self-reliance.
For the first time, the main Navy Day event is being held at Puri’s Blue Flag Beach in Odisha. The celebrations feature an Operational Demonstration (Op Demo) showcasing the Navy’s maritime capabilities through ship maneuvers, aerial displays by aircraft, and cultural performances. The event aims to increase public awareness of India’s naval strength and its rich maritime heritage. Hon’ble President Droupadi Murmu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
This year’s celebrations emphasize the Indian Navy’s commitment to innovation and excellence. The demonstrations include 24 warships and 40 aircraft, symbolizing the force’s operational readiness and its indigenization efforts. The event underscores India’s growing prowess in naval technology and its strategic focus on fleet modernization.
