New Delhi, May 19, 2025 – Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Monday that India’s foodgrain production for the financial year 2024-25 has increased by 106 lakh tonnes, reaching a total of 1,663.91 lakh tonnes. The provisional estimates, released by the Ministry of Agriculture, indicate a positive shift in agricultural output, driven by favorable weather conditions, timely sowing, and government-backed initiatives.
Chouhan credited the rise to the resilience of Indian farmers and the support provided through schemes like PM-KISAN, increased MSPs, and improved irrigation infrastructure. He also emphasized the government’s continued focus on agri-reforms, climate-resilient farming, and rural development to ensure long-term food security and income growth for farmers across the country.
