IMD Issues Warning: Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds Expected Along AP Coast

Visakhapatnam, December 26, 2024: A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has weakened but continues to impact weather conditions across Andhra Pradesh. The system is expected to bring strong winds reaching speeds of up to 65 km/h along the coastline, particularly affecting low-lying areas.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weakened depression is likely to cause heavy rainfall in several districts of Andhra Pradesh today, including Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, and Vizianagaram. Fishermen have been advised to stay off the sea due to rough conditions and high tides expected in the region.

Authorities are on high alert, with disaster management teams stationed in vulnerable areas to address potential emergencies. Residents in affected districts have been urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall.
