Guwahati, February 12, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has alleged that the “George Soros ecosystem” had a significant influence on the Assam Congress in 2014. Speaking at a press conference, Sarma claimed that this influence was part of a broader agenda aimed at destabilizing democratic institutions in the state. He directly targeted Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and his wife, suggesting that their actions during the period were aligned with this alleged agenda.
Sarma emphasized the need to expose such external influences on Indian politics, accusing the Congress party of prioritizing foreign interests over national concerns. The allegations have drawn sharp reactions from the opposition, with Congress leaders rejecting the claims as baseless and politically motivated. The remarks are expected to escalate political tensions ahead of the upcoming elections in Assam.
