    Heavy Rain Alert in Andhra Pradesh: Depression Near Visakhapatnam Raises Concerns

    Amaravati, December 20, 2024: The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for Andhra Pradesh as the prevailing rainy conditions are expected to intensify further. Officials have warned that the impact of a depression may result in heavy rainfall across the Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra districts over the next 48 hours.

    A depression formed near Visakhapatnam and a low-pressure area in the western Bay of Bengal is anticipated to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the state. Specifically, districts like Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Nellore, and Chittoor have been advised to stay alert, as per the Meteorological Department.

    The state government has prepared for relief measures and has deployed emergency task force teams to respond swiftly if necessary. Authorities have urged residents to avoid riverside areas and low-lying regions. Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and follow the instructions issued by officials during these conditions.
