Guntur Police Crack Down on Ganja Network, Arrest 25 and Seize 7.2 Kg of Drugs

GUNTUR: In a recent anti-narcotics operation, Guntur police dismantled a ganja distribution network, arresting 25 people involved in the supply chain of peddlers, suppliers, and consumers. The crackdown, conducted on Monday, led to the seizure of 7.2 kilograms of ganja. Authorities reported that the distribution network had spread among college students, some of whom had been recruited by local peddling groups to distribute drugs within youth circles.

The primary suspects in the case include Shaik Althaf (19), Mohammad Davuddin (20), Shaik Roshan (19), and college student T. Balaji (20), who reportedly acquired the ganja from suppliers in Araku. Two individuals named Bheem and Deepak were identified as the primary suppliers, with middlemen A. Anil (20) and P. Sudhakar (24) aiding in the distribution throughout Guntur.

Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended seven suspects near Nethaji Nagar pond in SVN Colony, confiscating both the ganja and Rs. 3,500 in cash. Investigations into call records and online payment histories allowed authorities to trace 18 additional consumers involved in the operation. The police are actively pursuing the suppliers from Araku to further disrupt the supply chain.

Currently, the seven arrested individuals are on remand, while 18 consumers have been granted conditional bail. Guntur’s Superintendent of Police, Sathish Kumar, issued a statement urging students to avoid drug use, emphasizing the risks involved in such activities and the police’s commitment to maintaining a drug-free community.
