    Google Adapts to EU’s DMA: New Search Features and Choice Screens Rolled Out

    Brussels, November 26, 2024 – Google has introduced measures to comply with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) and avoid potential fines. The company plans to test dedicated sections in search results for comparison sites and direct suppliers, featuring elements like images and star ratings to enhance visibility.

    Additionally, Android devices will now feature “choice screens,” allowing users to select their preferred default search engine, addressing concerns about fair competition.

    The updates, aimed at balancing user experience with regulatory compliance, are expected to be in place before the DMA’s March 2024 deadline. These changes align with the EU’s goal of creating a fair digital marketplace while ensuring Google adheres to its dominant position obligations.
