Zaheerabad, December 14, 2024 – In a dramatic operation resembling scenes from a movie, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials intercepted a ganja smuggling attempt at the Madgi inter-state RTA checkpost in Sangareddy district. The operation resulted in the seizure of 840 kg of ganja, valued at Rs 2 crore, hidden in custom-built shelves along the chassis of a lorry.
The NCB had acted on a tip-off and began inspections early on Friday. Upon reaching the Telangana-Karnataka border checkpost, the lorry driver, sensing trouble, abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, evading arrest. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the massive haul of ganja.
The shipment, believed to be heading toward Maharashtra from the Andhra-Odisha border, was initially moved to Chiragpally Police Station in Zaheerabad for examination before being transferred to Hyderabad for further investigation. Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend the driver and any possible accomplices, while NCB officials have vowed to continue their crackdown on the growing illegal narcotics trade in the region.
