Ongole, February 8, 2025: Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has questioned the police case filed against him over a year-old tweet. The case stems from a post during the promotion of his film Vyuham, which allegedly included morphed photos targeting Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh. Varma expressed confusion about the legal grounds for the complaint, stating that someone unrelated claimed their sentiments were hurt by his tweet.
The case was filed following a complaint by TDP Maddipadu Mandal Party Secretary M. Ramalingam. During Varma’s police inquiry at the Ongole Rural Circle office, strict restrictions were imposed, including shop closures and restricted access to the area, drawing criticism for excessive measures. The heavy police presence and disruptions sparked public debate over the handling of the case.
