Mumbai, January 7 – Starting April 1, the Maharashtra government has announced that FASTag will be mandatory for all vehicles at toll plazas across the state. This move aims to ensure seamless toll collection and reduce congestion on highways. Vehicles without FASTag will face penalties and delays, as toll plazas will only allow FASTag-enabled lanes for payments.
FASTag is a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)-based system that facilitates the automatic deduction of toll charges as vehicles pass through toll plazas. Users need to purchase a FASTag from authorized banks, apps, or toll plazas, link it to their prepaid wallet or bank account, and recharge it as needed. Once installed on a vehicle’s windshield, it enables cashless transactions, making travel quicker and more convenient.
