EVM Row: Giriraj Singh, Milind Deora Slam Opposition’s Distrust Campaign

New Delhi, December 11, 2024: Union Minister Giriraj Singh and Congress leader Milind Deora criticized the opposition’s recurring allegations of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) misuse, defending the credibility of India’s electoral system. Giriraj Singh dismissed the accusations as politically motivated attempts to undermine democratic institutions. He reiterated the Election Commission’s robust procedures and emphasized that EVMs are secure, urging political parties to respect the voters’ mandate.

Deora, although a member of the opposition, expressed similar concerns about the baseless nature of these allegations. He called for evidence-based discussions and constructive dialogue instead of fostering doubts about the election process. Deora warned that such narratives risk eroding public trust in democracy and urged political leaders to prioritize accountability over unverified claims.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of safeguarding India’s democratic framework. They urged political parties to avoid spreading misinformation about EVMs and to focus on initiatives that enhance electoral transparency and bolster public confidence in democratic institutions.
