    Brussels, March 5, 2025: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has unveiled the “ReArm Europe” initiative, a plan to mobilize €800 billion to boost the EU’s defense capabilities amid rising geopolitical tensions. The proposal includes increased defense spending, joint projects, and private investments to enhance Europe’s self-reliance.

    Key measures include suspending budget constraints to unlock €650 billion and a €150 billion loan program for defense projects. Von der Leyen emphasized the urgency of strengthening Europe’s security, with EU leaders set to discuss the plan at an upcoming emergency summit.
