Brussels, March 21, 2025: The EU has launched the €800 billion ReArm Europe Plan to enhance military capabilities by 2030, addressing security challenges like the Ukraine conflict. Key elements include temporarily suspending budget rules to allow €650 billion in defense spending, providing €150 billion in EU-backed loans for procurement, and redirecting existing funds toward defense investments.
The plan also lifts restrictions on the European Investment Bank to support defense firms and encourages private investment in defense projects. This strategy emphasizes the EU’s goal of strengthening its defense autonomy and readiness in response to evolving global security dynamics.
