
Colombo, April 3, 2025 – External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar called for stronger regional cooperation to combat terrorism and human trafficking at the BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting in Sri Lanka. He stressed that these transnational threats pose significant challenges to security and stability, urging member nations to enhance intelligence-sharing and law enforcement coordination.
Reaffirming India’s commitment to regional security, Jaishankar advocated for stronger policy measures and cooperative frameworks within BIMSTEC. He also highlighted the need for economic and connectivity initiatives to ensure long-term stability, emphasizing collective action to strengthen the regional grouping.
