New Delhi, February 4, 2025 – External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar underscored the increasing significance of the India-EU partnership in addressing the challenges of a volatile and uncertain world. Speaking at a forum on India-EU cooperation, he highlighted the shared democratic values, mutual economic interests, and commitment to multilateralism that have strengthened ties between the two regions. He stressed that global geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainties make the India-EU relationship “more important than ever before.”
Dr. Jaishankar identified key areas for collaboration, including digital transformation, climate action, and global security. He described the ongoing negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as a potential “game-changer” for bilateral trade. Emphasizing the need for collective action, he urged the EU to partner with India in tackling global challenges such as supply chain resilience and sustainable development.
