Cannes, May 22, 2025 – At the Cannes Film Festival, director Om Raut announced a biopic on former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, with acclaimed actor Dhanush set to play the iconic leader. The film will trace Kalam’s inspirational journey from humble beginnings in Rameswaram to becoming India’s “Missile Man” and President. Dhanush described the role as a great honour and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Raut emphasized that the film will highlight Kalam’s scientific achievements, leadership, and influence on India’s youth. The announcement garnered significant attention at Cannes, reflecting the international interest in Kalam’s legacy and the growing global reach of Indian biographical films. Production is slated to commence later this year.
