Amritsar, February 17, 2025 — A third batch of 112 illegal immigrants from the United States arrived at Amritsar Airport on Sunday night, continuing the deportation process that began on February 5. This brings the total number of deportees to 336, with returnees from states including Haryana, Gujarat, and Punjab. Arrangements have been made for the deportees to return to their respective states.
Despite requests for humane treatment, many deportees arrived in restraints. Daljeet Singh, one of the returnees, confirmed that most were shackled. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann criticized the decision to land the flights in Amritsar, while BJP leader Tarun Chugh accused the Aam Aadmi Party of politicizing the issue and questioned the reasons behind the illegal migration of Punjab’s youth.
