New Delhi, March 4, 2025 – The Indian Defence Ministry has launched a major modernization plan for the Indian Air Force (IAF) under its “Year of Reforms” initiative. To strengthen air dominance, India will invite global bids for 114 multirole fighters, attracting major aerospace firms like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and Dassault Aviation.
The plan also emphasizes boosting domestic aircraft production by involving the private sector to support Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Additionally, India is in talks to acquire 10 more Airbus C-295 transport aircraft, replacing its aging Avro HS-748 fleet and reinforcing its commitment to self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
