
Visakhapatnam, December 23, 2024: A severe depression persists over the Bay of Bengal, moving in a west-southwest direction. According to the Meteorological Department, it is expected to approach the northern Tamil Nadu and southern coastal Andhra Pradesh regions by Tuesday. Due to its impact, light to moderate rainfall is likely in several parts of the state until Thursday.
Heavy rainfall is anticipated in districts such as Tirupati, Nellore, Prakasam, and Bapatla on Tuesday. Winds with speeds of up to 55 km/h are expected over the sea until Wednesday, the department added. In light of these conditions, the Visakhapatnam Weather Office has announced that third-level cyclone warnings will be issued to ports in the state as a precautionary measure.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until Thursday due to rough weather conditions. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents in affected areas to stay alert and take necessary precautions during this period.
