    CM Chandrababu Backs Aqua Sector Amid U.S. Tariff Crisis, Urges Fair Price for Farmers

    Amaravati, April 8, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has assured strong support to the aqua sector, which is facing a crisis due to U.S. tariffs. In a meeting with aqua farmers and industry stakeholders, he urged exporters not to reduce procurement prices and suggested a minimum rate of ₹220 per kg for 100-count shrimp. He also instructed officials to form a committee to tackle tax-related challenges and promised canal-based water supply to ponds in Godavari districts.

    Highlighting the sector’s importance, the CM noted that over 3 lakh people are directly employed in aquaculture, with 50 lakh more indirectly dependent. He emphasized boosting domestic consumption and value addition as long-term solutions and stressed the need to protect farmer incomes through fair pricing and strategic planning.
