New Delhi, November 27, 2024:
Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra, criticized opposition parties for questioning the results of the recent elections, urging them to introspect rather than blame Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). His statement came in response to accusations about the legitimacy of the election process, with certain opposition leaders alleging manipulation or faults in the EVMs. Bawankule asserted that such claims were baseless and advised parties to focus on their strategies and internal processes rather than deflecting responsibility.
Bawankule also reflected on the outcome of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, in which the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured a decisive victory. He emphasized that the voters had clearly supported the alliance, and Congress’s inability to secure a significant number of seats was a result of its own internal weaknesses, not due to any irregularities with the election system.
Addressing the broader discourse around election results and the functioning of EVMs, Bawankule pointed out that such allegations were often raised by losing parties without evidence. He called for a more constructive approach, urging opposition leaders to focus on improving their connection with the electorate and addressing their party’s shortcomings, rather than resorting to unproven claims about election malpractice.
The BJP leader’s comments come amid continued discussions about the integrity of EVMs in Indian elections. Bawankule’s stance reflects the party’s confidence in the electoral process and the importance of focusing on political strategies to win the trust of voters.
