Visakhapatnam, December 6, 2024: In a major boost for Andhra Pradesh’s technological ambitions, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced plans to establish a Google Cloud data center in Visakhapatnam. This initiative is part of the state’s broader vision to become a hub for cloud infrastructure. Andhra Pradesh’s IT Minister, Nara Lokesh, who is currently in the United States, met with Google Cloud executives, including CEO Thomas Kurian, to discuss the potential for setting up the data center under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
This move aligns with the state government’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence (AI)-driven e-governance systems and smart city projects. Lokesh emphasized that Andhra Pradesh’s strategic focus on cloud infrastructure makes it an attractive destination for investment, particularly in the tech sector.
