New Delhi, January 7 – Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar has strongly defended the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in India, rejecting recent claims of tampering and unreliability. Addressing concerns raised by critics, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Kumar emphasized that there is no evidence to suggest any vulnerabilities in EVMs. He stated, “There is no question of introducing a virus or bug in the EVM. No rigging is possible.”
Kumar also noted that the High Courts and the Supreme Court have consistently upheld the integrity of EVMs through various judgments. He added, “EVMs are foolproof devices for counting. Allegations of tampering are baseless.” This statement was made in response to Musk’s earlier remarks, where he suggested that EVMs should be eliminated due to potential hacking risks.
