Dhaka, March 29: Bangladesh’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has filed a case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 72 others, accusing them of plotting to overthrow the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. The case alleges that the accused aimed to incite civil unrest to destabilize the administration.
The charges are linked to a December 2024 online meeting where Hasina’s supporters allegedly discussed plans to reinstate her. Since her ouster in August 2024 following mass protests, Hasina has been residing in India. Authorities claim the meeting was part of a broader effort to topple the interim government.
