New Delhi, February 1, 2025: In the Union Budget 2025, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced India’s ambitious plan to achieve 100 GW of nuclear energy capacity by 2047, the centenary of independence. This initiative aims to transition the country towards cleaner and sustainable energy sources while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The government will encourage investments in nuclear infrastructure, research, and technology, fostering collaborations with global experts and creating special economic zones for nuclear development. Analysts believe the plan will strengthen India’s energy security, drive innovation, and generate employment opportunities.
