New Delhi: A senior BJP leader has sharply criticized the Congress party for its failure to tackle poverty during its tenure, while defending the welfare initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. The BJP leader argued that the Congress-led governments in the past had done little to uplift the poor, pointing out the persistent issues of poverty and unemployment under their rule.
In contrast, the BJP leader emphasized the numerous welfare programs introduced by the Modi administration, which he said have transformed the lives of millions of Indians. He highlighted schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, which has provided millions with bank accounts, and the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, aimed at improving sanitation across the country.
The BJP leader further praised Modi’s direct benefit transfer system, which has ensured that subsidies and welfare benefits reach the intended beneficiaries, significantly reducing corruption. According to the leader, these initiatives have not only improved the living standards of the poor but have also empowered them, making them more self-reliant.
The leader concluded by accusing Congress of using poverty as a political tool, while the Modi government has genuinely worked towards addressing it through systemic changes and inclusive policies.
