Uttar Dinajpur, December 12: A 17-year-old Hindu girl from Bangladesh, an ISKCON devotee, fled to India after allegedly facing threats from extremists who planned to kidnap her and harm her family. Fearing for her safety, she crossed the India-Bangladesh border on foot and was apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) in Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal.
Her family, part of a minority community, had been targeted by fundamentalists. The girl, who had relatives in India, sought refuge with them.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of her escape and whether others assisted her in crossing the border.
