Security Forces Seize Arms and Ammunition in Manipur’s Jiribam and Churachandpur Districts
In a major operation, security forces in Manipur have successfully seized a large cache of arms and ammunition from the districts of Jiribam and Churachandpur. The operation, conducted on Wednesday, was part of ongoing cordon and search efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security in the region.
In Jiribam district, the forces conducted searches in the areas of Champanagar, Narayanpur, and Thangboipunjre. During the operation, authorities recovered significant weaponry, including one 2-inch mortar, thirty-six live barrel cartridges, and five empty barrel cartridges. This find is part of a broader effort to curb illegal arms proliferation in the area.
Meanwhile, in Churachandpur district, the security forces seized a range of weaponry and ammunition from H Kotlian village. Among the items recovered were one .303 rifle, one 9mm pistol, and two locally made short- and long-range cannons. Additionally, the forces confiscated five live rounds for AK-47 rifles, two 9mm live rounds, four 12-bore cartridge cases, and eighteen modified live rounds for a .303 rifle.
These seizures are part of ongoing efforts by security forces to track down and neutralize illegal arms networks operating in the state. Authorities have emphasized the importance of continuing these operations to ensure the safety and security of the region, particularly as tensions remain high in parts of Manipur.
