    ArcelorMittal to Set Up Captive Port in AP with ₹1.61 Lakh Cr Investment, 63,000 Jobs Expected

    Anakapalli, April 10, 2025 – The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the allocation of a 2.9-kilometer waterfront at DL Puram in Anakapalli district to ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited for developing a captive port. This area lies outside the Indian Navy’s buffer zone at Rambilli. The company must obtain necessary NOCs from relevant central ministries and agencies before proceeding.

    The port will support an integrated steel plant, with an initial phase targeting 7.3 million metric tonnes annual capacity by 2029 and employment for 20,000 people. The total investment across two phases is estimated at ₹1.61 lakh crore, potentially creating 63,000 jobs. The state has also amended a clause in its agreement with Kakinada Gateway Port to facilitate this project.
