Amaravati, March 5, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh government is introducing women riders for ride-hailing services to improve safety and employment. Women from self-help groups (SHGs) with valid driving licenses will receive e-bikes and e-autos, integrated with Rapido through a government-backed agreement.
The program will allocate 400 vehicles in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, with 200 more in other cities. Loans will be provided through government schemes, and Rapido will waive platform fees for three months before charging ₹1,000 monthly. Each vehicle is expected to get 300 bookings per month, ensuring stable earnings for women riders.
