VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has signed eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with IIT Madras, a leading research institute, to foster technological advancements and transform Amaravati into a global city. These collaborations aim to leverage advanced research, innovation, and education to benefit students and the broader community. The agreements, signed in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, underscore the State’s commitment to aligning education and technology with societal needs.
Key initiatives include establishing a deep-tech research, design, and incubation park in Amaravati and enhancing maritime research and coastal energy technologies through a partnership with the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board. Another collaboration focuses on improving workforce skills using platforms like Swayam Plus and the IITM Pravartak Digital Skill Academy, as well as providing advanced technical training for school and college students through the IITM Pravartak Vidya Shakti programme.
IIT Madras will also assist in developing Kuppam and Puttaparthi airports into logistics hubs, enhancing regional connectivity. In the IT sector, efforts will focus on positioning Visakhapatnam as a global internet gateway. The partnership extends to the AP Real Time Governance Society (RTGS), where IIT Madras will help bolster AI and data science infrastructure. Additionally, the State’s sports department will receive technical expertise to create a smart sports city in Amaravati with world-class facilities.
This comprehensive collaboration highlights the State’s vision for integrating cutting-edge technology into education, infrastructure, and governance. With IIT Madras’ expertise, Andhra Pradesh aims to position itself as a leader in innovation, education, and sustainable development, ensuring the benefits reach every segment of society.
