Amaravati, April 18, 2025 – The Andhra Pradesh government has issued an ordinance introducing sub-classification within the 15% reservation allocated to Scheduled Castes (SCs) in education and employment. This move divides the SC quota among three sub-groups to ensure more equitable distribution of benefits among historically disadvantaged castes within the community.
According to the ordinance, the SC reservation will now be split based on population and representation data, allowing underrepresented groups to access improved opportunities. The state government stated that this step was taken in response to long-standing demands from certain SC communities and follows similar measures in other states.
