    Andhra Pradesh Reports Over 74 Million Cancer Screenings on World Cancer Day 2025

    Amaravati, February 4, 2025 – On World Cancer Day 2025, the Andhra Pradesh Medical and Health Department reported that over 74.2 million people have been examined for cancer, with 71,772 showing symptoms of suspected cancers, mainly cervical and breast cancers. The state recorded 73,000 new cancer cases in 2023-2024, resulting in 40,000 deaths, with experts stating that 40-50% of these cases could have been prevented with early detection.

    Doctors emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, particularly for breast and cervical cancers, to improve treatment outcomes. Dr. Akkineni Veena advised vigilance for signs of leukemia in children, while Dr. PV Sivarama Krishna warned that obesity is a major risk factor for lung cancer in men. Early medical consultation and advanced treatments can significantly enhance recovery chances.
