Visakhapatnam, April 14, 2025 – The Andhra Pradesh government has imposed a 61-day fishing ban along the eastern coast starting at midnight tonight to protect marine life during the breeding season. The ban, which will last until June 14, 2025, applies to all mechanized fishing activities along the coast, aiming to preserve the fish population and marine ecosystem.
This decision follows consultations with local fishermen associations and marine experts. Authorities have assured support to the affected fishermen and are providing alternative livelihood options during the ban period to promote sustainable fishing practices and the long-term health of the coastal ecosystem.
