Amaravati, January 27, 2025: Despite the new government’s seven-month tenure, some officials in Andhra Pradesh remain unchanged, with allegations emerging that YSRCP leaders continue fraudulent activities. Contractors are reportedly fabricating old records to resume canceled projects, claiming prior purchases of materials, with engineers allegedly involved in these actions, leading to losses for the government.
The coalition government is restructuring the Jal Jeevan Mission, which was mismanaged by the previous YSRCP administration. Efforts include replacing shallow borewells with projects drawing water from lakes and rivers. Nearly 40,000 unfinished projects have been canceled, and the government has set conditions for continuing previously approved works, allowing only those 25% complete to proceed. However, some contractors are exploiting this condition to continue projects without financial losses.
