    Amrapali Assumes Charge as Managing Director of Tourism Development Corporation

    Amrapali Khat has taken charge as the Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director of the State Tourism Development Corporation. After the Telangana High Court’s ruling, Amrapali recently returned to the state and reported for duty. Prior to this, she, along with other IAS officers, had appealed to the central government to remain in Telangana, but their request was dismissed by the judges.

    Background and Education: Amrapali hails from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Her father, Venkata Reddy, was a professor of economics at Andhra University, while her mother, Padmavati, supported her educational journey. Amrapali completed her primary education in Visakhapatnam and later graduated with an engineering degree from IIT Madras. She also earned an MBA from IIM Bangalore.

    UPSC and IAS Career: Amrapali was part of the 2010 IAS batch, securing an impressive 39th rank in the UPSC exams. Her achievement became a source of inspiration for many aspiring civil service candidates. She is also recognized for offering guidance to young aspirants through social media platforms.

    Transfer and New Role: After serving in various districts in Telangana, Amrapali was transferred to Andhra Pradesh under the IAS transfer policy. On October 27, an official order appointed her as the Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director of the State Tourism Development Corporation. Today, she took over her new responsibilities at the Tourism Corporation office in Vijayawada, where she was warmly welcomed by the department’s staff.
