Amit Shah’s J&K Visit: High-Level Security Review on April 7-8

Srinagar, April 2, 2025: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu and Kashmir on April 7-8 to review security amid recent infiltration attempts and the Kathua gunfight. He will hold a high-level meeting with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and security officials to discuss counterterrorism and border security measures.

This will be Shah’s first on-ground security review since the new government took office. While Chief Minister Omar Abdullah denied any link between the visit and the Kathua encounter, security has been tightened ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on April 19 to inaugurate the first train from Katra to Kashmir.
